John O’Callaghan of The Maine. March 2011

Fairly pleased with how these came out. Possibly not as good as last Octobers (I’m a sucker for complementary coloured lighting) but I’ll take what I can get. More soon! x

I’m fairly understanding these days when it comes to people reblogging photos because they love them. I think that’s awesome, and I feel proud that so many people think my photos are good - it really does mean a lot to me and I appreciate every nice comment I get.
What I don’t like is when people take my photos and edit them and then post them up and expect credit for the edit. You changed the colours. Or you cropped my watermark off. Or you destaurated it and you stuck some lyrics on it. Big effin deal.
Why should you get credit when I’m the one who worked on a website for several years, built up an amazing collection of press contacts, requested to cover the show, drove the hour it takes to get to the show, used my actual skills to take the photographs, edited the photos the way I want them to be seen, and then uploaded them all - for you guys to look at!?!?
It really bums me out when this happens and its totally unnecessary. I’ve seen a couple of the Maine ones tweaked with so far (as well as some people also being rude enough to copy the entire interviews Lucy worked her butt off for to do with Derek and Garrett) and I have to say I’m disappointed. I don’t want to be the bad guy, but if its not something of mine that I’ve posted that’s been reblogged I will send a DCMA to tumblr to have it removed. I don’t like infringement. I don’t want to, but I gotta protect the interests of my site and my work. If everyone plays by the rules we’ll all have a wonderful time and I’ll keep posting nice photos here before they are seen anywhere else.
For the record this is one re-edited by me.

About

Self-taught photographer based in Scotland. Originally just worked on live music but I've branched out into other fields (landscapes and animal portraits mostly - with a random human portrait thrown in from time to time). Now I'm never without at least one camera. Uses: Canon 50D, an assortment of Canon and Sigma Lenses, Canon Ixus 95, old-reliable Canon Powershot S45, Fisheye2 and Polaroid 600. Loves: traveling, canon gear, a good book, music, and cheese.
