I think this is my favourite of the set. There was a bit of a light explosion.

Lights were not as good as I’d hoped for tonight, but really my photos do not do the show justice. Stellar return from the dudes. Fun night. Photos and an interview with then and a review will be up on ctrlaltrock.com by the weekend x

Ryan Ross (ex-)Panic At the Disco. August 2006
Funny story, but Panic At The Disco was actually the first band I shot with a photopass way back in January 2006 (it was also the first band I ever interviewed but that is a horrific story for another time). The entire experience shooting it with the old film EosElan was a complete disaster, but as I was doing about 4 (?) other dates on the tour I still managed to get a few decent photos with my old reliable 4 megapixel Powershot s45 (all of which I have just found out may have been deleted forever by my brother *tear*)
Tomorrow I get to shoot them again with a photopass - funnily enough for the first time since that incident - every other time I’ve seen them I’ve just taken a few casual snaps in the crowd - like the one of RyRo above from Bush Hall. I was always a little too scared to try and suss another pass for them (regardless of Zack trying to offer), but I figure five years has been enough time to learn and do better!
ALSO: Lucy is going to be interview them (I will thankfully not be involved this time) if you have any questions for them please get in touch with her here
Congratulations to sabbyvee for winning the free print!
I did not expect to get that sort of response from a contest! I now know it’s a good fun way to keep all this up! I’ll stick with it from now on and draw one person from every 50 new adds to get a free 9x6 print of their choice, how’s that sound?
Actually what might also work is if everyone heads on over to our music sites tumblr CtrlAltRock anyone that adds us between now and when I get home from my mini tour/travels on Wednesday will be put into a draw to win a TWO of 9x6 prints - winners choice!
We’ve got a great new music site on the go and there is more than just my photos - the rest of the girls to a fantastic job of reviewing the latest tracks and pop along to shows to review AND interview a lot of the bands I post photos of here. This week alone we’ve posted interviews with The Butcher (TAI/Animal Upstairs), Sam and Craig of Twin Atlantic, Bayside, Pierce The Veil, and most recently with Sierra and Blake of Versaemerge. There’s also reviews of the Panic At The Disco show at Bush Hall in London, and A Day to Remember at Brixton!
We’re gonna be doing a few surveys to find out exactly what our readers want, and having some nice little prizes to go along with that soon and it’s likely we’ll be promoting that through tumblr - so helping us out by answering a few Qs could get you some sweet rewards and if you have any questions for bands we’re gonna interview we’ll always try our best to get them answered. xo
Not actually a photo…BUT it’s something I made all by my very self.
As someone who really doesn’t actually know how to use photoshop (seriously I can colour correct/resize/watermark my photos. that’s pretty much it) this feels like a grand achievement. Decided it was time I started actually trying to use it as I was gifted with the Premium Edition of CS5 the other month - figuring it out might be a wise thing to do. If anyone wants to teach me how to actually use it that sure would be swell :D
Also c’mon it does alright in advertising our new site where we’ve just posted an interview with Ally Burnett, a review of Ben Jorgensen (ex Armor For Sleep) solo show in Adelaide and a bunch of single and album reviews (Panic At The Disco, The Holiday, A Day To Remember, The Dangerous Summer, Twin Atlantic…)
February is gonna be SUPER busy - we currently have 17 shows to plan for. When you think about how that month only actually has 28 days its a very scary/exciting prospect.
